Q + A

Q + A

What is Peer Support?

Peer support is a non-clinical approach to growth and recovery where the basis is shared lived experience. As a certified Peer Support Specialist, we are licensed through the state to provide emotional support, foster hope and resilience, and empower one another through shared understanding of recovery.

What does 'integrative' mean?

Offering a service that includes integrative care means that we will explore many different aspects of life that may play a part into growth, healing, and recovery. As humans, we're influenced and effected in many different aspects of our lives, consciously and subsonciously, therefore looking at healing from an entire human lens, rather than just the mind, or just physical health, allows for a more supportive journey of growth that is supported by many different pillars of wellness.

What Kind of Breathwork do you offer?

Alyssa offers a variety of different breathwork modalities based on goals of clients. A full breathwork session is based on a 60 minute session highlighting release and recovery through Holotropic, circulatory breathing. Through the course of working together, Alyssa and peers may further explore alternative modes of breathwork techniques to promote stress release, calming,  energy activation, nervous system regulation, clarity, courage, and much more.

What does an Integrative Peer Support Session look like?

In short, it looks different for everyone based on goals, beliefs, and needs. Overall, it is a conversation based meeting in a common area chosen amongst peers. Through my integrative approach, there may be offered somatic exercises and/or reflection opportunities if desired by the peer.

What would make us a 'good' fit?

A good fit feels mutual. I believe peer support works best when there is open communication, shared understanding, and space for your voice to lead. I am here to support you in a way that feels respectful, grounded, and aligned with your needs, while offering optional tools and perspectives that you are always free to engage with at your own pace.
